Lady Amarena 2019: the queen of beverage crowned in Bologna

The Lady  Amarena Final, the competition created by Fabbri and dedicated to the leading female figures in the Mixology World at national and international level,

A big event that continues to attract, year after year, a great interest from professionals in the sector but also from the many enthusiasts of the beverage world.

Fabbri strongly wanted to create this competition thus showing the company willingness in spreading the “good drinking culture“ fostering the use of high quality ingredients.

A declaration of support for female professionalism in a working  environment that has long been considered to be of male dominance: Fabbri has been far-sighted in devising a competition entirely dedicated to the so-called  “pink quotas”.

Almost 4,000 participants  from 5 continents took part in the 2019 edition, thus marking an increasingly international and cosmopolitan vocation of the event.

On 15th October the Italian final was held at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. On this occasion the 2019 best lady-bartendercof Italy was crowned.

The young Adriana Firicano from Palermo, head bartender of the Santa Cecilia Theatre won the title of Lady Amarena Italy 2019. She won with the cocktail "La Lupa", recalling strongly  an extravagant, rebellious and very feminine woman of the novel La Lupa by the Italian writer Giovanni Verga. This cocktail has been dedicated "to rebellious women who love to risk". A cocktail with 10 Years Old Whiskey Bulleit Bourbon, Fabbri Amarena syrup, a fresh note of lime juice and a sprig of mint.

On October 16th the winner was  was Liu Ting Zheng, known as "Tammy Liu", 30 years old, who used to be a  dancer at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center . She has been working as bartender at the Mary Magnate cocktail bar in Shanghai for six years.

Tammy Liu was selected as a winner by a jury of experts, who decreed her “Ciao Bella” cocktail the best of the competition. A cocktail with an all-Italian name, a hymn to good drinking based on the iconic Fabbri Marendry, grapefruit juice and lime.

The other  finalists, expert "cocktail ladies" coming from all over the world are worth mentioning: Simoni Londou (Cyprus) with her Her majesty, Bubbles (Nigeria) with Afro-Tails, Timea Tivrea (Romania) with Fantasy Fruit, Inna Ocheretyna (United Arab Emirates) with Solo, Awon Yun (South Korea) with Cherry over Cherry (Love over Love), Aurora Rodríguez Casas (Spain) with Maren My !! and Anna Princena (Singapore) with Queen Amara. While the barladies selected for the Rest of the World were the Greek Penelope Agrimanake with The World and Magda Diamonds  with Cherry Brulee and the German Daniela Uhrig with Diamond of the Mount Etna.

The competitions of the two days were conducted by Bruno Vanzan, another leading figure in the beverage world. As for the grand final, it is interesting to highlight that also the jury was all female, with exponent from the catering sector, the world of cocktails and journalists. Lucia Montanelli and Jessie Smith, famous international bartenders, but also journalists such as Sandrae Lawrence, Isabelle Abram, Rossella De Stefano, Nicole Cavazzuti and Antonella Tolomelli, Fabbri Global Marketing Director 1905 were among the jury members. Furthermore, the technical jury was made up by winners and participants in the past editions of Lady Amarena: Andriani Vladimirou, Ilaria Bello and Fenia Athanasiadi.

The 2019 edition had many leading figures in the beverage world as protagonists, confirming the quality of an increasingly acclaimed and appreciated competition. All we have to do now is to wait for Lady Amarena 2020!
