Cobbler Shaker

Cobbler Shaker

The Cobble Shaker, also known as the Continental or Traditional Shaker, is the original version of the shaker and its patent was registered in New York back in 1871.  It is made up of a steel, glass or plastic lower beaker into which all the ingredients, plus ice, are poured. It has a lid with a series of holes in it through which the shaken cocktail can be poured without the ice going into the glass, and a small lid to cover the holes during the shaking. Although these days most bartenders prefer the Boston Shaker, the Cobbler Shaker has a more historic allure to it and is still in use by the more traditional bartenders.
